The provisional government
The Duma,having been given power in March of 1917 by the Tsar Nicholas II created the provisional Government.
The provisional government did little besides replace the Tsar and continue the war. This system was weak and faced many problems.

The bolsheviks who practiced a form of communism
, believed that the only an elite group of revolutionary leaders should guide the rest of the country. They offered the people "peace,bread and land" Russian leaders appointed group of moderate reformers, to set a provision government, headed by Alexander Kerensky.

However, discontent kept growing because:
November 1917 the Bolsheviks who was headed by Lenin took power under the skilful leadership of Leon Trotsky, Lenins right hand, The Bolsheviks military units, including the workers red guards.- In spite of calls for peace, Kerensky let Russia
- continue the war Food prices rose even higher
The provisional government was arrested at its headquarters in the Winter Palace.
